In May 2023, the world’s largest aquarium, “SeaWorld,” opened, incorporating concepts of tourism, education, and conservation, becoming a new landmark in Abu Dhabi. The largest aquarium in the world, “SeaWorld,” was developed in collaboration between the local renowned leisure and entertainment real estate developer, Miral, and the SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment. It is located on Yas Island, known for landmarks such as Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, and CLYMB Abu Dhabi. Not only will it feature the world’s largest aquarium within the marine park, but it will also include a new research and rescue center.
The expansive five-story building covers an area of 183,000 square meters (approximately 55,000 ping). The aquarium is expected to accommodate 25 million liters of water and up to 68,000 species of marine animals, including sharks, turtles, manta rays, and various marine fish. One of the highlights is the “Endless Vista,” a 20-meter-high vertical display window spanning multiple floors, offering a breathtaking view of the marine world.
Additionally, there is the “Endless Ocean” exhibit area, which connects six different regions of the marine park. Visitors can explore the deeper marine world through technology, enhancing their understanding and awareness of marine ecology and conservation. Before hastily dismissing the potential harm of aquariums to animal conservation, it’s important to note that SeaWorld is one of the world’s leading animal organizations with over 55 years of experience in marine research and animal conservation.
They have a dedicated team responsible for rescuing, caring for, and rehabilitating sick, injured, or abandoned marine and land animals. SeaWorld also aims to educate the public about the importance of marine conservation through tourism.
Therefore, a research and rescue center has been established adjacent to the aquarium, serving as the United Arab Emirates’ first specialized research center for studying and caring for animals. The center will conduct research, rescue, conservation, and education related to marine ecology. If the aquarium alone isn’t enough to satisfy your curiosity about the marine world, the dedicated center also offers visitor reservations to showcase the work of resident scientists and research teams, providing deeper insights into the mysteries of nature. SeaWorld is located on Yas Island, offering convenient access to airports and major cities.
Explore eight major areas, encounter nearly 100,000 marine creatures, and experience over 15 interactive experiences and amusement facilities. Get up close to animals, enjoy over 100 exhibits, and have unforgettable interactions with adorable animals. With over 20 live characters and performances, the park offers an extraordinary experience of joy. Indulge in 17 dining experiences, explore 13 unique shopping venues, and enjoy the pleasures of food and shopping.
